The Bogeymen are BACK!

Last Halloween month, we watched two of our favorite slashers, and it’s time to follow up!  First up, we go to the hospital with HALLOWEEN 2, directed by Rick Rosenthal and starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance.  The main character in our next flick is a real doll.  It’s CHILD’S PLAY 2, directed by John Lafia and starring Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, and Brad Dourif as “Chucky”. 

Nurse!  Get me a scalpel, a Cabbage Patch Kid, and a bag of popcorn!  It’s time to commit MASS MOVIECIDE!

This week our discussions range from the trippy to the criminal to the inspiring!  Brendan’s been sick, so we discuss his bizarre, Nyquil-induced, fever dreams.  We visit a couple of weekend festivals.  We play some board games with some sore losers.  We use internet money to buy real life crime.  We ponder the US Government shutdown and Obamacare, and we wrap things up with a weight-loss recap.

WE’RE KICKING OFF THE HALLOWEEN SEASON A WEEK EARLY!

This week, we’re watching a couple of flicks that spoof the standard “cabin in the woods” horror gimmick!  First up, it’s TUCKER AND DALE Vs EVIL directed by Eli Craig and starring Tyler Labine, Alan Tudyk, and Katrina Bowden.  After that, we check out Joss Whedon’s THE CABIN IN THE WOODS directed by Drew Goddard and starring Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, and Bradley Whitford.

Hillbillies, misunderstandings, and flying purple people eaters.  Get ready for another horrifying MASS MOVIECIDE!

THIS WEEK, Mass Moviecide Producer Rodney E. Reyes is in the studio as we discuss everything from the choices we make getting dressed in the morning, to the most recent viral video sensations.  We talk a little tv, and ponder both sides of the Baby Veronica story.  Rodney visits Foam-Henge on a trip to the southern US states, and we also argue the various forms of comedian joke theft.

THIS WEEK, our Moviecide hosts are forced once again to hand in their man-cards and watch a couple of Romance films.  First up, it’s Richard Linklater’s BEFORE SUNRISE, starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.  Second, we follow up with the sequel BEFORE SUNSET, also directed by Richard Linklater and also starring Hawke and Delpy.

First, our heroes discuss why Jay is grumpy.  To cheer him up, they talk about BEER and the third-best pub in the US.  They discuss the UK CREEPY CLOWN.  It’s almost time for some HAUNTED HOUSES, and this week Jay gives his review of GRAND THEFT AUTO (GTA) V.

THIS WEEK, we revisit the 80’s and examine 2 of Patrick Swayze’s big hits!  FIRST UP, it’s ROAD HOUSE directed by Rowdy Herrington and starring Patrick Swayze,  Sam Elliott, and Kelly Lynch.  After that, we have the time of our lives with DIRTY DANCING, directed by Eleanor Bergstein, and starring Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Gray, and Jerry Orbach!

We discuss some gimmicks movie studios employ in the selling of their films, we discuss the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, and finally we are in the Christmas in September spirit by preparing for our secret Santa.

It’s back to school week here at Mass Moviecide! 

This week, we celebrate a couple of great teachers (whether fictional or not)!  First up, we’re watching the true story of Jaime Escalante.  It’s STAND AND DELIVER, directed by Ramon Menendez and starring Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Andy Garcia.  After that, we head on down to music class with MR HOLLANDS OPUS, directed by Stephen Herek and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Glenne Headly, Jay Thomas, and William H. Macy.

This week we ready for our MOVIECIDE episode by discussing how dumb it is to text and drive. We ponder why anyone would be upset by DC’s most reason art contest (requesting nude depictions of Harley Quinn ending her life).  We note that the beginning of the end has arrived for The Food Network, and then we wrap things up by discussing what is possibly the most important movement of all time; the petition to re-cast Fifty Shades of Grey.
